  • 44 Annual Research and Education Forum - UPR MS (March 15, 2023) Mr. Joshua Melendez had a Poster Presenation.
  • Mini-Symposium Artificial Intelligences Applied to Health Disparities (January 31, 2024): The seminar was focus on various aspects of artificial intelligence in the context of healthcare, specifically addressing disparities in health outcomes, workforce diversity in AI/ML, validation of AI tools in pathology, and ethical guidelines for AI in high-stakes decisions. The event included discussions, presentations, and collaborative activities aimed at advancing the application of AI in healthcare with an emphasis on ethical considerations and equity
  • Forward Research Innovation Summit – Science Space Edition (November 30, 2023): This conferences was hosted by the Trust for Science, Technology and Research of Puerto Rico (FCTIPR). Mr. Dylan Cedres had a poster presentation at this event.
  • Taller ChatGPT (November 16, 2023): Workshop aimed to address ChatGPT functionalities and how it can be useful in our work environment. 
  • IV Brazilian Congress of Assisted Technology (November 6-10, 2023): Drs. Abiel Roche-Lima Frances Heredia was invited as a guest speaker. E ach had a presentation at Florianopolis, Brazil
  • Southeast IDeA Conference (September 15-17): D r. Frances Heredia had a poster presentation at the hosted by South Carolina INBRE and talked about the course “Artificial Intelligence Machine Learning Applied to Health Disparities Research "(AI/ML+HDR)
  • Graph Pad Seminar (August 30, 2023): Conducted by Dr. Eduardo Tosado and Mr. Joshua Melendez, this seminar provided insights into using Graph Pad, focusing on data analysis and visualization in biomedical research.
  • CEC - Laboratory Visit for Kids (August 15, 2023): An innovative seminar involving laboratory visits for children, aiming to spark interest in science and research from a young age. This session was led by Drs. Eduardo Tosado, Frances Heredia, and Mr. Joshua Melendez.

  • REDCap Training Sessions (June to October 2023): A series of workshops and seminars were held to train participants on REDCap, including specific projects like Genes association study of early-stage Alzheimer Disease risk in Puerto Rican; Expanding Effective Report Back of Environmental Exposure Among New Researchers and Clinic Based Studies ; Pediatric Sarcopenia and Androgenic Hormones Levels in patients with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD); Registry of Inflammatory Bowel Disease in Puerto Rico; the aging studies in Puerto Rico (known as the PREHCO study These sessions were aimed at enhancing research capabilities through REDCap.
  • 1st UPR Comprehensive Cancer Center Scientific Congress: Advances in Cancer Care, Research, and Health Policies in Puerto Rico (May 5, 2023): Drs. Abiel Roche-Lima Frances Heredia had a poster presentation.
  • 12th Scientific Day, by the Hispanic Alliance for Clinical and Translational Research (May 3, 2023): Dr. Abiel Roche-Lima had a poster presentation on Development and User’s Experience of an Assistive Technology Web App in promoting older adults’ functional health.
  • 6th International Conference on Information Technology Systems (ICITS'23) (April 25,2023): Drs. Abiel Roche-Lima & Frances Heredia had an Oral Presentation on Machine Learning Approaches to Study Death Incidence by Race in Colorectal Cancer Patients after Treatments.
  • AIM-AHEAD Pilot Project Updates and Research Fellowship Updates (April 24-25, 2023): Seminars were conducted by Abiel Roche-Lima, Frances Heredia, Dr. Herman Taylor and Dr. James Washington, focusing on updates related to the AIM-AHEAD Pilot project and research fellowship. These sessions emphasized biomedical informatics and computational biology.
  • RCMI Conference 2023 (April 12, 2023): Dr. Abiel Roche-Lima had an Oral Presentation and talked about the course “Artificial Intelligence Machine Learning Applied to Health Disparities Research "(AI/ML+HDRV2) and Drs.
